I fell in love with “The House That Heaven Built” as soon as I heard it. Since then I got a copy of Celebration Rock from Insound, and it’s become one of my favorite albums of the year. I remember feeling like it would be a good idea to do an acoustic cover of a Japandroids song when I first got into their previous album - I think I was going to try “Young Hearts Spark Fire.” I never got around to it and forgot about it until I saw this tweet about imagining Mark Kozelek covering “House That Heaven Built.” It ended up coming out a bit more folk-musicy than I expected, and it’s more upbeat than I imagine Mark Kozelek doing it, but it feels right for me I guess. I hope you guys enjoy it!
