a cinema of sunshine

i remember the first time i heard this Joanna Newsom song.  It was on NYU’s New afternoon show, in the winter of 2004.  I felt like I’d landed on some other planet.  the scenery was the same - hollowed out suburbs and crumbling parking lots.  but everything changed, things felt electric.
