sorenandsartre asked: Your sound is incredible. What gear do you use? I'm especially interested in mics, guitars/amps, synths, and your recording rig. p.s. I love the feedback in Hard Times, Go! and everything else about that song.
really great to hear that, thanks man. my setup is pretty bare bones. I have a pretty old version of pro tools and I record everything through an mbox. the mics I use are cheap also - just the mxl condenser set that you can get at guitar center or here. I do have one plugin called vintagewarmer that i use alot - it makes everything sound more analog, like it was recorded to tape. i use it to try and copy that tape overload sound that i love from the neutral milk hotel records. other than that, i have a few great mid 60’s vintage tube amplifiers - a guild thunder reverb in particular that i put alot of different sounds through - guitars, casio sk-5 (which you can sample with!), korg kaossilator, a wurlitzer chord organ, a harmonium w/ a pickup on it, sometimes even vocals. and i have a few effects pedals - the big muff for distortion and the line 6 delay pedal that is really versatile. i like to use alot of found sounds and download lots of samples off the internet through places like freesound.org. hope that helps! and really glad you like the new song. all the best, brian
